Hainan Hydrogenation of Bio-oil Project green upgrades, the annual benefits improved by 18 million

    Recently, the purge gas resource utilization of the 5000Nm3/h methanol-to-hydrogen plant for the Hainan Hydrogenation of Bio-oil Project has been successfully implemented, which was contracted by Shutai. The project applied the self-developed patent technology named SCST-CHMR (normothermia catalytic heating coupled with hydrogen generation from methanol technology). After the green upgrading of the project, the desorbed gas and purge gas have realized resource utilization, which not only lowers the production cost and increases the economic benefits, but also reduces environmental pollution.

    For the original hydrogen production plant, the resource utilization potential was not fully exploited. In order to promote its efficiency, and decrease the impact on the environment, Shutai carried out this renovation project. Based on the self-developed SCST-CHMR technology by Shutai, the desorbed gas and the purge gas from the methanol-to-hydrogen plant are all sent to the catalytic heating system for a complete reaction to achieve resource utilization. The first-level sewage or tail gas of the factory is also sent to the system for centralized treatment. After treatment, the NOx in the exhaust gas is zero, and the VOCs are 60 mg/m3, which is far below the national and local emission standards.

    After the renovation, the company can directly save about 18 million in costs and reduce carbon emissions by 529.5 tons every year. At the same time, the renovated equipment has a high degree of automation, simple operation, safe operation, and can effectively improve production efficiency.

   The successful implementation of the project marks an important breakthrough in energy saving and environmental protection in the Hainan bio-oil hydrogenation project, and also contributes to the development of the clean energy industry in China. In the future, Shutai will continue to devote itself to the research and development, and application of environmental protection technology, in order to make greater contributions to promoting the development of China's clean energy industry and achieving sustainable development goals.
